This is my 1st posting so bear with me if it sounds stupid...
Decided to post this coz I'm really excited. I'm getting a CAR!!! Folks around me are sick of me jumping in excitment around them everyday telling them how great MY CAR is gonna be, so I gotta find an alternative channel to share this excitment. Ok, fine, this may not be too exciting for some of you, but this is like 1 of the most exciting thing in my life now!
After tahan-ing 2 years of weekday evenings of dragon boat trainings after work, which can sometime last till 9:30pm, I've decided that I haf had enuf! Having to kill my brain cells staring at the screen of my laptop from 9am - 6:30pm (sometimes longer if I haf too much work), then rush to Kallang (where training is) from Raffles Place (where I work) in a bus that haf to go through the Nicolle Highway rush hour jam, then get changed at lightning speed (coz I'm always late for trainings as they start at 6:30pm, the time I get off work), then wave frantically at my teammates hoping they will row back to pick me up from shore, then force my tired mind to tell my body to row as hard as I can for 2hrs, then shower and then take public transport home (walk to Kallang MRT station, take MRT then change bus), often reaching home around 11pm on a lucky day. Pls note: Haven't had dinner up to this point... It's tiring even just by typing all these out! Damn...
It get worse on days we do weights instead of rowing. The coach will give us a pre-determined weights programme which everybody haf to complete, including poor me who is always at least 1hr late. Not only I have to compete the sets, I haf to catch up with my teammates who started much earlier! It left me with less time to rest between sets in order to end at the same time as the rest of the team.
Go home with a tired mind, tired body...These happens twice a week... Shag...
So, getting a car means...I get off work at 6:30pm, take a nice drive to Kallang instead of squeezing into a bus carrying a giant bag (filled with training gear - t-shirts, shorts, shoes, slippers), train hard, then haf a nice 15min drive on the Highway home in a fully air-conditioned car instead of taking a 1hr 15min bus/MRT ride home... Heavenly...
A car is the perfect solution. Ahhhh...
So, went car shopping last Sunday after rowing. Brought my mom to Borneo Motors, then Cycle & Carriage, just to get her opinion. Yup, it's a battle:
Toyota vs Mitsubishi
Vios vs Lancer (Dun look so unimpressed. It's the best thing I can afford now)
1.5 vs 1.6
Economical vs Coolness
"Safe" look (my parents won't look strange driving it) vs the contemporary look
Vios totally impressed my mom. Cheap. Petrol consumption - 1l for 13km for automatic. Comfortable seating for a family of 4. Spacious boot. "This is good! Can buy." she said... No no... Never. Praying hard that she won't go for the Vios. I'm paying for it, so technically I make the choice. But I'll still take her opinion into considerations. Good ger... *Grin* But deep down inside, I prefer the Lancer.
So, next stop, Cycle & Carriage. Brought my mom up to a white Lancer (Elegance). She looked impressed with the back seat. "More spacious than the other 1 hor?" she said. Well, it's a 1.6, of course bigger. Then, brought her to the SPORT version, spoiler, sports rims, the whole works! "Wah! Very nice hor? Nicer than the Toyota leh." she said. Now I'm the impressed 1. My mom, the auntie, the "orbit" person I know, now tells me she like the Sporty Lancer. Whoa!!
Lancer. Cheap (slightly more than the Vios). Petrol consumption - 1l for 15km for the Manual. Yah, I cheated. Din compare apple to apple coz 1 is Auto, the other is Manual. But I have to make the Lancer look even more impressive Economic-wise so that my mom will go for the Lancer rite?
Final Decision : MITSUBISHI LANCER
But is that all the decisions that need to be made? Nope. Another battle begins. Colour...
Black vs Titanium
Old colour vs Newly launched colour
Common vs Unique (the colour is so new that it is not even printed in their catelogue yet, so it's very rare on the roads now)
Cool vs May be considered "uncle" (coz it look like a bluish dark grey)
Asked almost everybody around me and everyone haf different opinions. Struggle...
Finally made the decision last night (took me 4 days to decide). It's gonna be black. No matter how cool the colour sounds (Titanium), there will still be people who perceive it as "grey" anyway. So "uncle".
The Final Final Decision : A BLACK MITSUBISHI LANCER (SPORTS)
Next step : Find time to go down to the showroom for downpayment.
Yeah!! Couldn't wait!!! *GRIN*
